Hunka Hunka Pink Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60
Did you know that Elvis Presley drove around a pink ‘55 Cadillac Fleetwood series 60 on occasion? He had originally bought this car to present to his mother. It was blue with a black roof before Elvis decided to paint it pink. Elvis ended up driving around this sweet ride because his mother did not have a license or have ever driven a car.
This Cadillac was the set style of the era. Many people sang about it in popular culture and it was copied by people around the world. Elvis mentioned having a pink Cadillac in his first song to appear on the national charts “Baby, Let’s Play House” in July 1955, the same month he bought the car. This shade of pink was specifically named “Elvis Rose” and he drove it around with the band in 1955-1956. In 1958, Presley was drafted into the army for two years. Upon his return, he lended the 55’ Cadillac Fleetwood to US Army buddy, Joe Esposito.
This is known as the most famous of all Elvis cars. Elvis held onto this car until he passed away. It now resides in the Elvis Presley Automotive Museum.
